Architecture

The Art Museum’s building was designed by the architectural firm Fogh og Følner A/S (Lyngby) and covers an area of roughly 4.000 m² dispersed over three levels.

Inspired by Bornholm’s small coastal villages like Gudhjem and Svaneke, the museum clings to the terrain sloping down towards the rocky coast. Out of respect for the existing collection of art and craft art, the building complex is designed to accommodate a pleasant stroll through Bornholm’s visual arts with a number of views of the surrounding landscape and the vast seascape to the north.
